SCSO’s Strategic Focus Areas

Skilling Young People and Women: We offer training in marketable skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, auto mechanics, metal fabrication, and soap making. Our aim is to create job-ready graduates who can enter the workforce or start their own enterprises.

Outreach Programs: We partner with other organizations to provide training in skills that are relevant to local labor demands, ensuring that more young people and women have access to these opportunities.

Regenerative Agriculture Training: We equip our beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills for sustainable farming practices that improve food security and diversify household incomes.

Functional Adult Literacy Program: Through our learning hubs, we provide numeracy, literacy, and computer skills training to youth and women, enhancing their personal development and empowering them with skills for better livelihoods.

Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA): We help beneficiaries form savings groups that allow them to access financial resources, improve household livelihoods, and foster community-driven economic development.

The Ugandan Context

Despite Uganda’s economic progress, the country faces significant challenges in terms of social, economic, and governance conditions, which hinder sustainable development. With a rapidly growing youth population and high unemployment rates, especially in rural areas, our work is more critical than ever. The need for skills training, access to education, and entrepreneurial support is urgent, especially for young people entering the job market each year.

Our Stakeholders

SCSO works closely with various stakeholders, including:

  • Government Agencies: Ministries such as MoGLSD, Ministry of Education, Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT).
  • Faith-Based Organizations: Brothers Instructions of Kisubi, Brothers of Don Bosco.
  • Private Sector and NGOs: Caritas, Oxfam, African Women Rising, among others.
  • Academic Institutions: Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Nakawa Vocational Institute.
